The High Court (Commercial Division) in Accra has enforced a judgment issued by the High Court of England and Wales against businessman Nana Kwame Bediako, widely known as Cheddar, compelling him to pay more than US$14.9 million, together with interest and legal costs, to Cola Holdings Limited, a UK-based firm.

The enforcement follows the formal registration of the foreign judgment in Ghana on May 20, 2025, after Cola Holdings successfully applied for the English court’s ruling to be recognised locally.

A notice announcing the enforcement was published in the Daily Graphic on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

The original judgment was delivered on January 23, 2025, by Deputy Master Sabic KC of the High Court of England and Wales, with subsequent variations granted in March and April 2025. Once registered in Ghana, the ruling became fully binding and enforceable under Ghanaian law.

Under the order, Nana Kwame Bediako is to pay a principal sum of US$14,928,314.70, plus interest at eight percent per annum, calculated from January 23, 2025, until the debt is settled in full.

Court records indicate that by December 23, 2025, the accrued interest alone had reached US$1,092,834.64.

The court further awarded GH₵15,000 in legal costs in favour of Cola Holdings Limited.

Based on the Treasury exchange rate of GH₵16.15 to the US dollar, the total liability—covering the judgment debt, interest, and costs—amounts to approximately GH₵258.76 million, with the figure expected to rise as interest continues to accrue.

Additionally, the court approved an order for substituted service, directing that copies of the judgment be served by posting notices at 13 Avenue Lincoln, Osu, on the High Court notice board, and through a one-time publication in the Daily Graphic.

The notices are to remain posted for seven days.
