An Accra Circuit Court has remanded Salim Mohammed, popularly known as Fariwata, the principal suspect in a high-profile daylight robbery that rocked Adabraka in 2024.
Mohammed, a 26-year-old unemployed man, is accused of playing a key role in the daring operation in which GH¢7.5 million, proceeds from a gold transaction, was snatched while being transported to a bank on November 2, 2024.
Prosecutors told the court that Mohammed was arrested on November 20, 2025, after months of intelligence-led surveillance by the Ghana Police Service.
He was reportedly picked up at a hospital in Ashaiman, where he had gone to seek medical care, unaware that the net was closing in.
According to the prosecution, the suspect allegedly carried out the robbery alongside six other accomplices, who remain on the run.
Police say efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the remaining members of the suspected gang.
Mohammed’s plea was preserved by the court, and he has been formally charged with conspiracy to commit crime, to wit robbery, and robbery.
The court has adjourned the case to January 13, 2026, as investigations continue into one of Accra’s most audacious daylight robberies in recent years.
