MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh has urged the factions in the chieftaincy dispute in Adoagyiri to let peace prevail in the town.

Frank Annoh-Dompreh's comments follows a gun attack in the area last week that led to the death of two persons leaving five others injured.

The MP called for peace when he visited some of the victims who sustained gunshot injuries at the Nsawam Government hospital and paid their medical bills.

He advised that though there could be disagreements, the factions should come together to discuss the issues rather than resorting to violence.

Meanwhile, the Regional Minister, Seth Acheampong, who is the chairman of the RESCEC after an Emergency meeting held in Koforidua on Wednesday 30th August 2023 commenced an investigation into the incident, where he also assured the public that it will continue to work with the various security agencies to ensure peace and tranquility in the area.

Currently, Police from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service are in the community searching for the killers behind the shooting incident.

The incident occurred after gun-wielding men escorting a convoy of rival chiefs enstooled recently by the Akyem Abuakwa traditional council and sworn in last Tuesday at Kyebi, stormed the Adoagyiri community amid sporadic gunshots, leading to the death incidents belonging to the opposing faction.

In that process, one member of the Okyeman task force was mistakenly gunned down, as two others sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to the Nsawam Government Hospital by police deployed to the community.

The situation is creating fear and panic among the residents as some have been reported to flee since last night, due to the heavy presence of the Police officers deployed to the community.
