The GFA and Sports Ministry didn’t pay any hospital bill of the late coach E.K Afranie, a family member reveals.

The family of the renowned Coach has broken silence on the reports that claim the GFA and the Sports Ministry paid for the hospital bills of their deceased brother when he was admitted to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The grassroots trainer joined the silence majority on 9th November, 2016 when an ambulance transferring him from the Korle- Teaching Hospital to Okomfo Anokye Hospital had an accident on the Bonsu road.

The former Black Stars Coach was battling against mild stroke which subsequently resulted him being admitted at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital before meeting his untimely death on his way to Komfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi.

Viral reports in the local media claimed the FA and the Sports Ministry catered for the hospital bills of the ex- Black Meteors trainer when he was admitted to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital but the son of the legendary coach, Kwasi Afranie junior has swiftly dispelled such reports describing it as a “rag bag” that should not be given an attention.

In an interview with Asante Fokuo of Cape Coast-based ATL FM, Kwasi Afranie junior explained that both the Sports Ministry and the GFA showed no concern about the illness of his late father but emphasized that the GFA vice President George Afriyie was the only person who personally paid GHC 500.00 prescription fee to the family when the Black Stars Management Committee Chairman visited the departed coach at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

” The GFA and the Sports Ministry didn’t pay even a dime to us to support my late father so if someone tells us that the GFA and the Sports Ministry offered any support towards the survival of my lad, That person is a pathological liar” He exclusively told Cape Coast-based ATL FM.

The funeral of the late coach E.K Afranie is expected to be held very soon.
