The Aggrieved Newly Posted Teachers group has given the government a one-week ultimatum to address the delayed payment of their salaries, or face a protest on September 30.

The group, made up of graduates from Colleges of Education and universities, says some members have not been paid for 12 months, while others have gone without salaries for eight months. Their earlier deadline of September 23 has been extended following continued silence from authorities.

Despite submitting a petition to the Ministry of Education and other relevant bodies on September 8, the group says no concrete steps have been taken to resolve the issue.

The group’s lead convener, Simon Kofi Nartey, expressed disappointment over the government's inaction.

He confirmed that plans for a demonstration on September 30 are already underway, adding that the group has met with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command to finalise arrangements.

“It is rather unfortunate that as we speak, nothing has been done about the concerns we raised at our press conference. We have no option but to take to the streets to let Ghanaians know what is happening. We have already met with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command and agreed on September 30 for the demonstration,” he said.
