A law lecturer and aide to New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong, Kobby Amoah, has expressed confidence that the former Assin Central MP could defeat the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) if he secures the party’s nomination.
Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show on Monday, December 29, the aide said Mr. Agyapong embodies the type of leadership many Ghanaians are seeking, particularly amid rising unemployment.
“I think that Kennedy is the kind of leader that Ghanaians are yearning for as of now. We are in a country where our biggest problem is unemployment. Every national security report and even issues surrounding galamsey all point to unemployment as a major concern.”
Mr. Amoah highlighted Agyapong’s track record in job creation, noting that the aspirant has invested in private-sector initiatives that have generated employment over the years.
“He comes and tells people that as a politician, he has created thousands of jobs. He shows his factories and what he has done in certain value chains. In every constituency he visits, he explains what can be done there to improve the lives of the people," he said.
The lecturer also cited Agyapong’s proposal to relocate the Ministry of Agriculture to northern Ghana as an example of his job-centered vision. Amoah said the move would leverage the region’s vast arable land to develop it into a major agricultural hub capable of feeding not only Ghana but the wider continent.
“He looks at the potential of the northern regions and believes governments over the years have failed to put in place the right policies to fully utilise that potential,” he added.
He further stressed that Agyapong’s focus on employment aligns with the NPP’s philosophy of private sector–led development, arguing that his experience as a successful entrepreneur positions him to drive national job creation.
“As someone who is a titan in private sector job creation, he believes that as President, he knows how to help others succeed. His model is to support other entrepreneurs to also create jobs, using his experience and understanding of the industry.”
