President Nana Akufo-Addo has announced that the Navrongo campus of the University of Development Studies (UDS) will be named after the late Chairman of the Council of Elders of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr C. K. Tedam, who was buried on Saturday, 22 June 2019.

The Navrongo campus of the University for Development Studies (UDS) in the Upper East Region is to be named after the late Chairman of the Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), C.K. Tedam.

Making the announcement at the state burial mass for the late politician at Paga in the Kassena Nankana West District of the Upper East Region, President Akufo-Addo said the late C. K. Tedam was “a rock in that painful era of distress, when anti-party elements, occupying high positions in the party, launched attacks against the unity and sense of purpose of the NPP”.

“With the late Tedam’s strong leadership qualities and commitment, happily, they failed.”
Also, Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia eulogised the late C.K. Tedam, saying “honesty and integrity were his most important assets”.

According to Dr Bawumia, Mr Tedam was “a rare species of politician and statesman who dedicated his entire life to serving Ghana”.

He added that Mr Tedam was a devoted Christian who lived a saintly life and will be sorely missed.

Mr Tedam was a founding member of the Northern Peoples Party, a former Member of Parliament, a former member of the Council of State, and until his death, Chairman of the Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),

He died on 25 April 2019 at his home in Accra after a short illness.

He was 94.
