The chiefs and Opinion Leaders in the Demkyembour District of the Eastern Region have hailed their District Chief Executive (DCE), Seth Birikorang Ofosu for undertaking marvellous developmental projects in the area.

According to them, the DCE has proven beyond doubt since he assumed office and has therefore called on the President to stay put with him to continue the good work he has done in the constituency.

The chiefs led by Osaberima Owusu Nketia, the chief of Akyem-Tarkorase has pleaded with President Akufo-Addo to maintain Mr Seth Ofosu in his second term of office.

He said the DCE has always listened to the needs of the people in the area having addressed to the various drainage problems there.

The chief observed Akwatia is noted for poor road network but is of the view the situation has changed under the indefatigable DCE.

On education, he indicated there has been an improvement in the infrastructure of schools.

He affirmed they are impressed with the marvellous performance of the DCE, hence his endorsement.

“All chiefs in this area want the President to stick to our DCE because he has done a lot for us. He is a respectful guy and also humble. He listens to the needs of the people and solves them. Looking at what he has done, we all want him to stay in the President second term of office” he said.

“We’ve taken anything from the DCE just to praise him but the truth is that his hard work is making us beg the government to retain him as our DCE. We believe that with what he has done within these few years he will do more when he is given the opportunity again”.

Abdul Samed Kahilid, Special Aide to Akwatia Chief Imam despite admitting a lot needs to be done in the Zongo’s on behalf of the Zongo Communities commended the DCE for his outstanding performance in making sure that the area is developed.

“I think he is the hard-working DCE we’ve seen in Denkyembour. Ever since he came there has been a lot of development. There are a lot of things he is doing for us. Those of us in the Zongo petitioned the DCE to address drainage issues in the Zongo and he has promised to do it. The issue regarding drainage has been our main problem now” he said.

Mr Seth Ofosu, the District Chief Executive of the area as learnt since taken over the office has undertaken a lot of developmental projects in the District.

Some of the Assembly members who also spoke added that "Apart from projects done under the Central government with regards to roads, in every town, the assembly has done a project".

They said "We’ve contracted ultra-modern markets in some areas, school buildings in almost all the towns, toilet facility. The assembly has 22 projects ongoing since I came. Some include a library, school building, markets and others in the various communities".

A total of 387 beneficiaries with 123 males and 264 females in 35 communities have received their cash transfer in the LEAP payment cycles, as 165 PWDs identified in the District has also benefited from the District Assembly Common Fund in various means.

Per further checks undertaken by this portal, it has been revealed that 22 communities have been connected to the National power plant, and also through the assembly about 500,000 oil palm seedling has been distributed to farmers in the area.

The Constituency despite losing the parliamentary seat to the Opposition NDC, the good work he did help the party accumulated a higher number of votes with regards to the Presidential elections.

Through the performance of the assembly under the DCE leadership, the ruling New Patriotic Party had an improved vote as compared to the 2016 general elections.
