Reigning CAF Champions League winners, Al Ahly, once again showcased their title credentials by thrashing Ethiopian club Saint George 4-0 on Friday night, securing their place in this year's group stage.

Playing at Cairo International Stadium, the Egyptian giants delivered a dominant performance, sealing a commanding 7-0 aggregate victory over the two-legged playoff round.

Mohamed 'Afsha' Magdi ignited the scoring with a stunning 10th-minute free-kick. He added a second just before half-time after an assist from Karim El Debes.

Mahmoud 'Kahraba' Abdel-Moneim converted a penalty in the 34th minute to make it 3-0 on the night. He secured his second goal in the 63rd minute, courtesy of an assist from Emam Ashour, making it a convincing 4-0 win.

Despite missing key players Anthony Modeste, Amr El-Sulaya, and Mahmoud Metwally due to injury, Al Ahly displayed their impressive depth. Coach Marcel Koller made several second-half changes to rest players, including Karim Fouad, Yasser Ibrahim, Taher Mohamed Taher, and South African star Percy Tau.

Saint George had requested that the second leg be played in Cairo, but Al Ahly, in front of their home fans, showed no mercy.

This emphatic result secures Al Ahly's spot in the Champions League group stage, where they will aim to secure a record-extending 11th African crown.

With their dominant win over Saint George, Al Ahly has signaled their readiness for another memorable Champions League campaign as they defend their title.
