Former Celtic full back Allan Hutton has been singing the praise of young defender Jeremie Frimpong following his impressive performance for the bhoys.

The 18 year old full back who joined the Scottish Champions from Man City in the summer has surpassed expectations with his performance.

Frimpong was signed to play with the youth side of Celtic but all of a sudden he has found his way into the first team where he has shone with each performance.

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton said:

For someone so young, he’s showing great promise. Every time I seem to be singing his praises.

He’s just going from strength to strength. He’s really taken his chance with both hands and grasped it. It’s a shame he missed out on the European squad. It would have been good for him to be tested at that level.

It shows you how quickly he’s come on this season that he’s not been included in the European squad. He’s probably for me, the number one right-back. It’s brilliant to see.

Frimpong has been the name on everyone’s lips at Celtic despite the arrivals of  both Hatem Abd Elhamed and Moritz Bauer in the summer.
