The Paramount Chief of Kumawu, Barima Sarpong Tweneboa Kodua, has hailed the NPP, President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the enormous impact of the Free SHS policy on education in Kumawu and the nation.
Welcoming Dr. Bawumia to Kumawu, as part of his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region, the Kumawumanhene listed a number of projects the NPP Government has delivered for Kumawuman and Ghana, highlighting the Free SHS policy as the "ultimate".
"Today, I won't say much, except to give testimony. It has been 8 years now since you and your boss assumed office and I am only giving testimony about the great work you have done for Kumawuman and the people of Ghana," Barima Sarpong Tweneboa Kodua said.
"When it comes to education, the evidence is enormous. There is an ongoing STEM project. TVET too is here and many young people are getting skills training."
"Free SHS is the ultimate. Every child is benefiting. Because of the free SHS, we don't even get children to run erands for us. All our children are in school thanks to free SHS."
The Kumawumanhene added that Free SHS has not only boosted education in the area and Ghana, but has also provided relief to parents as they do not have to do much for their wards to be in school.
"All parents need to to do is to get a few items for their children because of school feeding in addition to the Free SHS. This has really relieved parents."
"Education is on the rise here in Kumawu and it is because of Free SHS. This is part of my testimony today."
The Kumawumanhene also commended the NPP for delivering projects in other areas in agriculture, health, district assembly, among others.
In agriculture, he mentioned a National Service Scheme project in Sekyere Afram Plains, and in health, he mentioned the construction of a 120-bed hospital, all of which, he said, are providing direct and indirect jobs for people in the area.
He also commended the NPP for the construction of an ultra-modern district assembly complex, and appealed to Dr. Bawumia to elevate the district to a municipal assembly when he becomes President.
The Kumawumanhene also praised the NPP for the construction of roads in the area, as well as the provision of equipment through the district road improvement project (DRIP).
While assuring Dr. Bawumia of Kumawuman's support for the good work of the NPP, the Kumawumanhene also expressed gratitude to Dr. Bawumia, for his swift intervention in providing two pick up vehicles to the community when he made an appeal to the Vice President over security concerns.
He urged Dr. Bawumia to keep spreading his good message and policies, assuring him that the good people of Kumawu and Ghana will reward his good work and message.
