Terry “Hulk Hogan” Bollea, one of the most iconic figures in professional wrestling history, has passed away at the age of 71. According to TMZ, emergency personnel responded to a cardiac arrest call at his Clearwater, Florida, home on Thursday morning. Despite efforts by paramedics, he was unable to be resuscitated.
Born in 1953 in Augusta, Georgia, Hogan rose to global fame during the 1980s and 1990s as “the face” of WWE’s surge in popularity. With his trademark blonde hair, handlebar mustache, and thunderous catchphrases like “Whatcha gonna do, brother?”, he became a cultural phenomenon. Hogan won multiple world championships, headlined WrestleMania events, and cemented his place in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Beyond the ring, Hogan expanded his influence into film and television, appearing in movies such as Rocky III, Gremlins 2, and the reality show Hogan Knows Best. He built an entrepreneurial legacy, including his “Real American Beer” venture, and remained active in public appearances until recent years.
The 12-time world champion's career was not without controversy, but his impact on wrestling’s mainstream prominence is undeniable. Fans and peers across the globe have expressed grief and remembered his electrifying persona and larger-than-life presence.
His family, including third wife Sky Daily and two children, Brooke and Nick, survive him.
