State Funeral of Kofi Annan will be held on Thursday, September 13; and former President Mahama has indicated the late United Nations Secretary General is worth celebrated since according to him he was an "illustrious son".
Mr Mahama's comments come after the family of the distinguished diplomat formally announced his sad passing and the funeral arrangements of Mr Annan to him on Monday.
Mr Mahama said the late UN chief "has for years been a source of pride to every Ghanaian and almost all Africans. His good name and reputation robbed off positively on us as a country."
He also revealed that "as President, I worked with the late Kofi Annan on several projects, thelast being a couple of trips in and out of Geneva when he personally decided to help with the mediation of the maritime dispute between Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire."
