Dr. Kwame Kyei has commended the playing body of Asante Kotoko for their hard work last year and also urged them to do more this year.

The Executive Chairman, in a New Year message delivered to the playing body on his behalf by his Personal Assistant, Nana Kwasi Gyembibi, also charged the lads to be tactically discipline.

The squad resumed training last Monday after the short yuletide break, and Dr. Kyei reminded them of the challenge ahead in the CAF Confederation Cup while wishing them a successful year.

2018 was quite eventful for the club as it experienced a shakeup in the technical body and a good run of form in friendly duels after the suspension of competitive football in the country in June.

The Porcupine Warriors have a date with Cameroon's Coton Sport in the playoff stage of the CAF Confederation Cup having eliminated Kenya's Kariobangi Sharks in the first round of the competition.

The club aims to reach the group stage of the 2018/19 CAF competition, at least, and Dr. Kyei entreated coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor's charges to redirect their focus on the goal.

"I will like to remind you that the task of reaching the group stage of the Confederation and going ahead to make a significant impact in the competition is still on. That's where your focus should be now with the holidays over."

"The task is big and cannot be accomplished without you being tactically discipline. Listen to the coach, get to understand what he demands of you and strive to implement", he continued.

Dr. Kyei continued: "We  did well last year but the challenge is even bigger this year so you must work harder this term than you did last year."

"I wish you all a happy New Year and pray that we gather here at this same time next year to count our successes in all the things that we have set out to do this year, " he concluded
