Ghanaian football club Asante Kotoko has announced the resignation of its interim head coach, Prince Yaw Owusu, bringing an end to his short tenure in charge.

In a statement released by the Kumasi-based side, the club confirmed that Owusu had submitted his resignation with immediate effect, citing the best interests of the team as the reason for his decision.

Owusu was appointed on 9 February 2026 following the departure of former head coach Abdul Karim Zito. His appointment was seen as a stabilising move, but results during his time in charge fell short of expectations, increasing pressure on the interim boss.

Despite the challenges, Kotoko expressed gratitude for his efforts.

“Interim Head Coach Prince Yaw Owusu has stepped down from his role with immediate effect,” the club said. “The coach stated in his resignation letter that his decision was taken in the greatest interest of the club.

“Management expresses its sincere appreciation to Coach for his service, dedication, and commitment during his time with the club, and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours.”
