Asante Kotoko is set to complete their first signing ahead of the 2024/25 season, with Walid Fuseini, popularly known as Walid Neymar, on the verge of joining the club.
The former Nsotreman FC winger is expected to add flair and dynamism to the Porcupine Warriors’ attack as they aim to rebuild for a stronger title challenge.
The 25-year-old winger, known for his speed, dribbling, and creativity, impressed during the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist in 18 appearances, totaling 1,578 minutes of play.
His standout moment came in Matchweek 5, where he scored in Nsotreman’s 3-1 win over Legon Cities, ending their four-game winless run.
While Nations FC also expressed interest in signing him, Kotoko have moved quickly, and talks between both parties are reportedly in the final stages.
Sources confirm that negotiations progressed positively last week, and only minor formalities remain before the deal is announced.
Walid’s versatility on both flanks and league experience make him an ideal fit for Kotoko’s plans, especially as head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum continues a squad overhaul aimed at reclaiming domestic dominance.
An official announcement from Kotoko is expected in the coming days once all agreements are finalized.
