The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has removed his linguist, Kofi Nti, from office following a decision by the Asanteman Council at a meeting held at the Manhyia Palace.

The destoolment comes after a series of allegations and concerns were raised against the former Kyeame during the council’s deliberations.

Key among them were questions surrounding his royal lineage and his reported inability to properly invoke the revered Otumfuo Ntam Kɛseɛ—a central duty of his role.

He was also accused of mishandling and retaining multiple invocations of the Ntam Kɛseɛ beyond what is traditionally permitted, as well as failing to duly report such invocations, a breach considered serious within Asante custom.

Additionally, the Council examined allegations tied to the wrongful enstoolment of the Ayaase Dikro, an issue raised by the Ayaasehene.

After reviewing the matters, the Council resolved to destool him, bringing an end to his tenure as one of the most prominent traditional office holders in the Asante Kingdom.
