The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has formally invited President John Dramani Mahama to attend the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
A high-powered delegation, led by the Amoamanhene, Nana Agyenim Boateng I, presented the invitation during a courtesy call on President Mahama at the Presidency in Accra on Monday.
The royal funeral will take place from September 15 to 18, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, with numerous dignitaries from across Ghana and abroad expected to gather to pay their respects.
In response, President Mahama conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Asantehene and the people of Asanteman, describing Nana Konadu Yiadom III’s passing as a significant loss to the nation. He assured the royal delegation of his commitment to attend the funeral in honor of the late queen mother’s legacy and contributions to Asanteman.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who passed away on August 7, 2025, at the age of 98, was deeply respected for her wisdom, leadership, and unwavering dedication to the Asante Kingdom throughout her reign.
