Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has successfully been registered by the National Identification Authority to own a Ghana Card on Monday at the Manhyia palace in Kumasi.

The Asantehene tasked the National Identification Authority and other interest groups to ensure all eligible Ghanaians benefit from the registration process.

The Ghana Card registration process at the Manhyia palace involved some paramount chiefs in the Asante kingdom.

Implementation of the National Identification system is among government’s key processes to formalize the Ghanaian economy.

The Asantehene therefore encouraged Ghanaians to take active part in the process to register for the card.

He also urged all stakeholders, especially the NIA and the minority in parliament to deliberate dispassionately on concerns to ensure all eligible Ghanaians benefit from the process.

“Let us continue publicising the processes of the registration for all Ghanaians to be conversant with the process.”

Chief Executive Officer of the NIA, Professor Ken Attafua said the Authority is working to ensure all eligible applicants are registered.

He said the exercise has been successful in the areas covered.
