Ashantigold SC on Saturday 21st, September, 2019 engaged in a friendly game with division one side Asokwa Deportivo at the Ofori Stadium.

Coach Ricardo Da Rocha, missing the services of Shafiu Mumuni, Latif Anabila, Appiah Maccarthy and James Akaminko to national duty, as well as Richard Osei Agyemang, Yussif Mubarik and Kwadwo Amoako to injuries, handed several young players an opportunity to play.

The Miners commenced the game with Robert Dabuo in post; a back four of Atta Kusi, Musah Mohamed, Razak Simpson and Roland Amouzou. Julius Ziggy, Osei Baffour Emmanuel, David Abagna, Marco Silva and Amos Addai (Captain) played from the middle whiles Mark Agyekum played as the center forward.

Dominating play within the first twenty (20) minutes, Ashantigold got a deserving lead through a direct free kick drive from Marco Silva (His second goal since joining the club). The first half ended with Marco’s goal separating the teams.

Coach Ricardo Da Rocha made several changes in the second half by introducing players including Evans Obeng, David Ayene, Stephen Owusu Banahene, Isaac Opoku Agyemang, Benjamin Eshun, Salia Ouattara, Kofi Nkrumah, Akwasi Nti, Doumbia Ibrahim, Felix Clottey, and Emmanuel Owusu.

The Miners held on to Marcos’ goal to register a marginal victory over Deportivo.

The team will rest on Sunday and resume training on Monday afternoon (3:00 PM), in preparation towards the second leg of the Total CAF Confederations Cup game with R.S Berkane on Saturday 28th, September, 2019.
