Assembly to clear abandoned building to decongest Mallam market

The Ablekuma North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Kalamu Adamu Musah, has announced plans to demolish a long-abandoned structure at Mallam Market that has become a hotspot for filth, overgrown weeds, and rodents.

The structure, left unused for nearly 20 years, has contributed to unsanitary conditions in the market. Its removal, according to the MCE, is part of a broader initiative to decongest the market and improve sanitation in the area.

Speaking during a sensitisation programme with traders, Mr. Musah explained that once the structure is cleared, the space will be integrated into the main market.

This expansion will accommodate traders who currently operate on pavements and outside designated trading areas.

The MCE also assured the market community that the Assembly is committed to improving infrastructure and public health within the municipality.
