The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has appealed to Ghanaians to remain committed to the government’s economic reform agenda as the country begins the year 2026.
In a New Year message shared on social media on January 1, 2026, Dr Forson expressed gratitude to citizens for their resilience and unity in navigating the economic challenges of 2025.
He acknowledged the public’s support for what he described as tough but necessary reforms, noting that these measures are helping to stabilise and reset the Ghanaian economy.
Dr Forson urged Ghanaians to sustain the momentum in the year ahead to ensure continued progress toward economic recovery, job creation and expanded opportunities.
“Your support for the tough but necessary reforms is helping us reset our economy for growth, jobs and lasting transformation,” he said.
“In the year ahead, let us put our shoulders to the wheel to ensure these reforms continue to deliver more opportunities for households, businesses and our youth,” the Finance Minister added.
He also paid special tribute to market women and men across the country, singling out traders at Makola Market, Market Circle and Kotokoraba Market in Cape Coast for their vital contributions to economic activity and community life.
Dr Forson’s message comes as government intensifies efforts to consolidate economic reforms and promote sustainable growth in the year ahead.
