Former Ghana striker Augustine Ahinful remains hopeful about the Black Stars' chances in the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, emphasizing the importance of the right mindset to get the team back on track.

Despite a rocky start, with Ghana currently sitting third in Group F with just two points from three matches, Ahinful believes the four-time African champions can still turn their fortunes around.

Their journey began with a disappointing loss to Angola at Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a 1-1 draw against Niger, and a goalless draw against Sudan in the first leg of their doubleheader.

“There is hope. I think the Black Stars can never be a ship because a ship will sink forever, making it difficult to salvage.

This is sports, and you can go through phases where you experience setbacks," Ahinful told Citi News. He stressed that with the right mindset and strategy, the team can revive their performance and meet expectations.

As the Black Stars prepare for their crucial second-leg match against Sudan, they have arrived in Libya and are set to hold a mandatory training session at the Martyrs of February Stadium later tonight.

The match will kick off on Tuesday at 13:00 GMT, and securing a victory is essential for keeping their qualification hopes alive.
