The Sports Writers Association of Ghana(SWAG) has launched it's 44th awards in Accra, announcing the list of nominees to be honoured.
The launch on Monday  was graced by executives of SWAG as well as officials from headline Sponsors MTN.
It also brought members of the media to the auditorium.
The event which is aimed at rewarding distinguished sports personalities who excelled in the year 2018 is slated for May 11 2019.

Speaking at the launch, the President of SWAG, Kwabena Yeboah reiterated the need to honour personalities, who have worked so hard in the sports world.

"The event will once again be a night of glory a night of pride and history for our sports men and women who have excelled in 2018 as well institutions that have contributed to the development of sports in the county," he said

"SWAG has over the years honoured many distinguished personalities including Azuma Nelson,Ike Quarter, Nana Yaw Kunadu, Abedi Pele, Tony Yeboah and many others, who have raised the flag of Ghana through Sports."

The head of corporate service for MTN, Sam Koranteng expressed Sat satisfaction with the partnership with SWAG, saying the later has "proven to be a good friend"

We have become partners and collaborated on various projects in aid of development of sports in Ghana," he said.

"Today’s event is yet another step that speaks to the commitment of MTN and SWAG to the development of sports in this country.

"For us at MTN Ghana, our consistent sponsorship of SWAG is in direct consonance with our belief that sports plays and essential part in the economic growth of this country – this evident in how sports has lifted many people out of poverty and the unique nature of sports to bind us a nation."

He assured Ghanaians of his outfits continual support to SWAG in order to keep honouring Ghana's "hardworking sports men and women.
