Vientiane: Australia needed a late goal by Jordan Jasnos to defeat Vietnam 1-0 and secure their second 2019 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifier Round 2 Group A win at the National Stadium in Vientiane, Laos on Tuesday.

It was a cagey affair with both teams failing to capitalise on their chances as the match remained goalless at half-time.

Australia, who defeated IR Iran 3-0 in the opener, pressed their opponents in the second half and their persistence was finally rewarded late into the game.

Jasnos made the difference with her strike in the 88th minute as the young Matildas homed in for the three points.

Group B's China PR and Bangladesh have already joined the top three teams from the 2017 edition - DPR Korea, Korea Republic and Japan - along with host Thailand, in the Finals in September.
