Defender Baba Rahman will rejoin his Chelsea team-mates next week after cancelling his loan contract with German side Schalke 04.

He was expected to regain regular first-team action having returned from a protracted spell on the sidelines.

But things have not gone as planned as the former Augsburg man has struggled to play regularly at Schalke.

Rahman has now secured the permission of manager Tedesco to leave Schalke in January.

The left-back is currently on Christmas holidays in his native Ghana but will move straight to London to join Chelsea training at Cobham.
