Back to the roots: Manchester City winger, Jeremy Doku arrives in Ghana

Belgian international of Ghanaian descent, Jeremy Doku has arrived in Ghana in what looks like a visit to the motherland after so many years.

The Manchester City winger was spotted at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra as he was welcomed by a group of supporters and dignitaries, as well as an “Adowa and Kete” dance groups to welcome him and his entourage.

The Belgian international of Ghanaian origin has always dreamt of coming back to his roots to take part in significant national developmental projects and affairs

In an interview with Premier League TV dated back in January 2024, the 23-year-old who speaks fluent Twi, said he would return to Ghana, sooner rather than later.

"Yeah. Of course I'm Ghanaian. My parents are also Ghanaians. I also speak Twi which is the language of Ghana. So I have to go back again because it's (been) a long time ago."

Doku also revealed his admiration for Ghanaian music.

"I like Ghana. I like the way they talk. I like their music."
