Addressing a press conference on the official name change and rebranding move, the CEO of ABSA, Maria Ramos stated the move demonstrates the bank’s new purpose and strategic direction which is geared at growing in Africa.

Officials say the rollout of the new ABSA brand design in South Africa will be completed in 2019.  It’ll thus be effected across other countries in Africa by mid-2020.

The name and brand change comes on the back of Barclays Bank PLC’s major decision to reduce majority shareholding in the Barclays Africa Group.
