Ghana head coach, Yusif Basigi, has made the first comments ahead of his team's clash against African champions Nigeria this Wednesday in the Africa Women Cup of Nations (Awcon).

Basigi watched from the sidelines as his Black Queens came back from a goal behind to defeat Kenya 3-1 but knows that the Nigeria game will be "different."

Nigeria's Super Falcons ran over Mali 6-0 in their first game at the Awcon in Cameroon on Sunday with Arsenal Ladies star, Asisat Oshoala, scoring four of the goals and Basigi thinks his team will not be outplayed that way.

"Ghana versus Nigeria is always a different ball game. They massacred Mali 6-0 but it doesn’t mean that they will massacre Ghana. Let the day come and we will see what happens," Basigi said at the post-match after their win over Kenya.

The former Sekondi Hasaacas trainer then took time to talk of his team's comeback after Kenya surprisingly took the lead through Esse Akiba in Sunday's contest at the Stade Municipal de Limbe.

He explained that the Black Queens did not underrate the Harambee Starlets.

Basigi lifted the lid on how his locker room pep talk galvanised the Black Queens to do a comeback and win 3-1.

"Any team at this competition is worthy of being crowned champion and don’t have to be underrated. I had not seen Kenya play and their determination was different. But we did not underrate them.

"We started well in the first five minutes and had a goal disallowed. It turned on us and they had a goal and it boosted their confidence. The opener dawned on my players. During recess, I talked to them and brought them back to life," said Basigi.

The Nigeria versus Ghana game is live on SuperSport 9 from 4.50pm CAT.
