Addressing former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, members of the Council of Elders, party executives, aspirants, delegates, and supporters, Dr. Bawumia began by expressing gratitude to God, the Electoral Commission, security agencies, the media, and the tens of thousands of delegates who participated in the primaries.
He described the contest as a “blistering battle” that tested the resilience and commitment of all involved.
Highlighting the party’s tradition of selecting leaders based on loyalty, competence, and service, Dr. Bawumia noted that the delegates’ choice represents a broad-based mandate across the NPP.
He urged all members, regardless of whom they supported, to embrace the results and work together to strengthen the party.
“Political parties are assemblies of like-minded people. After competition comes cooperation,” he said, emphasizing that commitment to the NPP should not be conditional on personal preferences.
Dr. Bawumia stressed the importance of party unity as a foundation for electoral success. Drawing on Akan wisdom, he reminded delegates: “Praye, se woyi baako a na ebu: wokabomu a emmu. United we stand and divided we fall.”
He pledged to undertake nationwide engagements to rebuild trust, particularly with party elders and members who felt aggrieved, and to ensure that every voice and opinion contributes to building a robust strategy for victory in 2028.
The NPP flagbearer placed special emphasis on youth involvement, describing young party members as the future of the NPP.
He announced plans to create a structured youth platform to harness their energy, ideas, and advocacy, noting that “anytime the youth groups in the party rise, the great elephant soars.”
Dr. Bawumia also underscored the need for discipline within the party, pledging to work with leadership to ensure orderly conduct in communications, operations, and interactions with the public.
Dr. Bawumia paid tribute to his campaign team, coordinators, volunteers, and supporters across the nation.
He acknowledged the contributions of Parliamentarians who championed his bid, religious leaders, former Members of Parliament, former party executives, and local government officials.
He also expressed special appreciation to his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia, who actively engaged with delegates and contributed to the campaign strategy.
However, Dr. Bawumia called on all party members to work together toward rebuilding the NPP and preparing for the next national elections.
“The polls have ended, but our push for a stronger NPP has just begun. With Almighty God behind us, we will succeed. The journey to victory in 2028 has only now begun. We are in this together! We shall work together. And we will win together,” he said.
