Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has dismissed allegations suggesting he performed poorly in Zongo communities during the 2024 general elections, labeling such claims as unfounded propaganda.

Speaking at a party event in the Adansi Asokwa constituency of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Dr. Bawumia responded to accusations that Muslim and Zongo voters had abandoned him in the election.

“The propaganda out there is that Muslims and the Zongo people did not cast their votes for Dr. Bawumia. When I heard it, I asked, ‘Where is the data to support these claims?’ Because for me, if you tell me something, I need data to prove whether it’s true,”

Dr. Bawumia also addressed a recent statement by a presidential aspirant, who claimed that he only won one polling station in the entire Zongo communities.

He categorically rejected these assertions as baseless, stressing that there was no credible evidence to support such allegations.
