Former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has criticised the government for what he describes as harmful economic policies contributing to the hardships faced by Ghanaians.

Speaking during a campaign tour with the NDC’s vice-presidential candidate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, in the Volta Region, Ofosu Ampofo likened the government’s economic policies to “weapons of mass destruction,” arguing that they have severely impacted the livelihoods of ordinary citizens.

He urged voters to support the NDC in the upcoming elections, emphasizing that an NDC administration would focus on policies to improve economic conditions for all Ghanaians.

“President Akufo-Addo has become a weapon of mass destruction. Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s economic policies have now become weapons of mass destruction, resulting in several fatalities.

“They have destroyed banks, community banks, the small microfinance companies have all been destroyed. They have also destroyed Paa Kwasi’s bank, which was providing services to women and people who want to be in the industry.

“They have thrown away 3,000 of the Groupe Nduom. That is why Bawumia’s economic policies are weapons of mass destruction and we are not going to allow him to come and lie to Ghanaians again,” he stated.

He continued…”Election is about trust in leadership and the person we can trust to deliver on promises…Today he [Dr Bawumia] has run from the Economic Management Team and he is talking about digitization and yesterday he had the guts to say that President Mahama should not come close to the presidency.

“I want to tell Dr Bauwmia that the backbones, the fibre optics and the Accra digital centre were put in place by John Dramani Mahama. What have you put in place?” he asked.
