Bayer Leverkusen and Nigerian striker Victor Boniface was involved in a serious car accident on Sunday while driving to the airport, just hours after scoring the winning goal in Leverkusen's 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

The 23-year-old’s Mercedes Benz collided with a truck on the A3 highway between Bad Camberg and Idstein.

Boniface shared a video on his Instagram, showing the damage to his car and a bloodied hand, expressing gratitude for his survival by writing, "God is the greatest."

The accident occurred as Boniface was reportedly heading to pick up friends from the airport.

Despite the frightening crash, Bayer Leverkusen confirmed that the striker escaped with only minor injuries.

"He is fine. Boniface only had two minor injuries to his hand," the club confirmed, according to German outlet Bild.

Boniface’s fans and teammates have expressed relief at his quick recovery, as the striker remains a crucial player in Leverkusen's push for the Bundesliga title.
