Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has called on the club’s supporters to remain patient as he works to steady the team following an inconsistent run in the ongoing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.

Pressure has grown around the veteran coach after a series of uneven performances left the Porcupine Warriors fifth in the table after 21 matches, with 35 points. Despite their league struggles, Kotoko remain in the hunt for silverware, having progressed to the Round of 16 of the FA Cup.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Zito addressed speculation surrounding his future and appealed directly to the club’s passionate fanbase.

“I have never been sacked as a head coach. If a club hires me, I will work, and at the end of the day, I’ll leave my role. But this is my club, and I know how the fans behave,” he said.

The former Ghana international insisted that Kotoko’s title hopes are far from over, pointing to the number of games still left in the season.

“I only plead with the fans to be patient, and we will surely win. We are in fifth place, and it’s not over. With 14 games left, we remain in contention for the league title,” Zito added.

He also acknowledged the emotional toll the situation has had on his players, while defending supporters’ right to express their frustrations.

“Sometimes, my players are disturbed, but I keep telling them this is the nature of our work. Fans have the right to protest, but they should be patient,” he said.

Kotoko now face a crucial run of fixtures, beginning with an FA Cup Round of 16 clash against Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium this weekend. Attention will then quickly turn to the league, with a highly anticipated showdown against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in Matchday 22.

With pressure mounting and expectations high, Zito will be hoping patience from the stands can translate into renewed focus and results on the pitch.
