Belgian-born Ghanaian youngster Dirk Junior Asare has officially joined Belgian Challenger Pro League side Lierse SK on a two-year contract.
The club confirmed the transfer after Asare parted ways with his boyhood club KV Mechelen earlier this summer.
Announcing the signing, Lierse SK stated on their official website: "Lierse reached an agreement with 20-year-old Dirk Asare this afternoon! The central midfielder has been on trial at the Lisp since the start of the preparation."
The club expressed their confidence in Asare's abilities, highlighting his agility and technical skills: "Our sports staff is convinced of the qualities of the talented playmaker.
During the practice matches, Dirk made himself noticed by his agility and technical ability."
Asare, who trained with KV Mechelen's youth academy, made his debut in the Jupiler Pro League last season under the guidance of Besnik Hasi.
Despite his experience at Mechelen, Asare has chosen to embark on a new adventure with Lierse SK to further his career.
"Lierse SK is the next step in his young career," the club's statement read. "Dirk Asare signs a contract for 2 seasons."
Born to Ghanaian parents in Belgium, Asare remains eligible to represent Ghana at the international level, despite his appearances for Belgium's U18 and U19 national youth teams.
Asare's move to Lierse SK is seen as a promising step for the young midfielder, offering him the opportunity to gain more first-team experience and showcase his talent in the Belgian Challenger Pro League.
