German-born Ghanaian international, Joselpho Barnes has reportedly been released by his club, St Truiden in the Belgian Pro League. Joselpho has spent the last two seasons at St Truiden since leaving Latvian Second Division side, Riga FC in 2023 after having stints with Luxembourg side, R.E. Virton and German club Schalke 04 where he had most of his development.

Joselpho grew up in Germany with his youth career being with the likes of Leverkusen and Fortuna Koln, but the 23 year old opted to represent Ghana at international level, participating in the U20 AFCON, hosted by Mauritania in 2021 where he and his teammates represented Ghana on a high note, winning the title for the fourth time in history. He capped five times for the Black Satellites and scored one goal in all.

The son of the former Black Stars player, Sebastian Barnes furthered on to represent Ghana again at the U23 level where he featured in just two games and netted just one goal. The 23 year old forward had a difficult campaign in the just ended 2024-2025 Belgium Pro League season as he featured in just nine games and could not contribute with either a goal nor assist.

Going forward into the next season, St. Truiden deem him surplus to requirement as they look to rebuild a new group to compete in the new  upcoming season. The Belgian club survived relegation last season as they played out in a fierce relegation play offs with the likes of Cercle Brugge who also survived with the likes of Ghanaian players in the name of Lawrence Agyekum and Abu Francis playing a huge role.

Joselpho Barnes is now a free agent and will have to look elsewhere to find a new suitable club going into the new 2025-2026 season.
