After suffering a narrow defeat to Asante Kotoko, Christopher Ennin, the head coach of Berekum Chelsea, has attributed the loss to what he perceives as poor officiating by referee Benjamin Kwame Sefa and his assistants.
Asante Kotoko secured a 1-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea on Monday night in a Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 13 encounter.
In a post-match interview, Coach Christopher Ennin expressed his dissatisfaction with the officiating, a departure from his usual stance of not commenting on refereeing decisions.
He claimed that the referee did not officiate the game as it was supposed to be and emphasized his unhappiness with the situation.
While acknowledging that playing against Kotoko in Kumasi is always a challenging task, Ennin mentioned that his players did not fully adhere to his instructions during the match.
Despite the defeat, he urged his team to accept the result, regroup, prepare for future matches, and strive to bounce back.
The defeat ended Berekum Chelsea's five-game unbeaten run, and the team now occupies the 6th position on the GPL table with 20 points.
The Blues are set to face Great Olympics at the Golden City Park Stadium on Sunday, December 10, 2023, as they aim to recover from the loss and resume their positive run in the league.
