The betPawa Premier League is set to continue with Matchday 3 this weekend, although two games have been postponed due to the participation of Medeama SC and Dreams FC in the CAF Inter Club competitions.

Both clubs are vying for a spot in the group stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, respectively.

The action kicks off on Friday, September 29, at the Golden City Park in Berekum, where Berekum Chelsea will face Accra Lions.

Berekum Chelsea, the hosts, are eager to secure their second win of the campaign after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Karela United on Matchday 2 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

They face an Accra Lions side that has yet to lose a game this season.

Accra Lions are one of four unbeaten teams in the league.

They drew 2-2 against Medeama SC in the season opener and secured a 1-0 victory over Legon Cities at home.

The draw against Medeama SC was their first away point in Tarkwa, following two successive defeats on previous visits.

Berekum Chelsea currently sits in 7th place in the table with three points from two games, with forward Stephen Amankona leading the top scorers chart with three goals.

Accra Lions top the table with 4 points, having won one and drawn one in their opening two games of the campaign.

Berekum Chelsea has a strong record against Accra Lions, having scored 7 goals and conceded only 1 in their last two encounters at the Golden City Park.

In the 2021/22 season, Berekum Chelsea defeated Accra Lions 3-1 and silenced them 4-0 in the 2022/23 season.

Former Asante Kotoko forward Stephen Amankonah has been a standout performer, scoring 3 goals in two games and emerging as the brightest spot in the team going into the game.

Berekum Chelsea has lost two of their key players, Henry Ansu and Kalou Ouattara, to Asante Kotoko.

However, they still have last season's top scorer Mizack Afriyie, winger Collins Ameyaw, Edwin Kuffuor Asamoah, Yaw Dankwa, and Awuah Dramani.

Last season's most promising player, Abass Samari Salifu, has started the season brilliantly and looks set to lead the team on Friday.

Other key players include goalkeeper Daniel Afful, who was named the NASCO player of the match against Legon Cities, Remember Adomako Boateng, David Oduro, Ali Mohammed, Baba Salifu Apiiga, and teenager Dominic Amponsah.

The match will be broadcast live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247 on Friday at 3 pm.
