Ghanaian winger Bernard Somuah will continue his development in Spain after extending his loan at La Liga outfit RC Celta Vigo from Asante Kotoko for an additional season.
The renewed agreement, confirmed by both clubs, includes an option for Celta to make the transfer permanent at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
Somuah initially joined Celta Vigo’s youth setup on loan in August 2024 and quickly impressed the club’s technical team with his pace, direct attacking style, and creativity on the flanks.
His strong performances have earned him a key role in the plans for the new season, especially as Celta focuses on grooming young talent for both their first and B teams.
The 20-year-old featured prominently for Celta B in the Spanish third tier, Primera Federación, where he became a regular starter under coach Claudio Giráldez.
Across 29 appearances, he registered five goals, four assists, 21 chances created, 47 successful dribbles, and an 83% pass completion rate — solid stats that highlight his growth and potential.
Celta B narrowly missed out on a promotion playoff spot, but Somuah’s contributions were a bright spot in their campaign.
The loan extension is seen as a crucial period for further evaluation, with a permanent deal likely if he continues on this trajectory.
Back in Ghana, Asante Kotoko have expressed satisfaction with Somuah’s progress. Sources within the club suggest they are open to a full transfer if Celta meet the stipulated conditions in the loan agreement.
Somuah, who is also eligible for Ghana’s U-23 national team, is regarded as one of the most promising exports from Kotoko’s youth system in recent years.
His continued presence in Spain adds to the growing list of young Ghanaian talents making an impact in European football.
The upcoming 2025/26 season will be pivotal for Somuah, who aims to either break into Celta Vigo’s senior team or secure a permanent stay in European football.
