Gospel singer Joyce Blessing has shared a heartwarming story about the biggest gift she has ever received in her career, and it came from none other than Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM 1.
In an interview on Accra FM, the gospel artist recounted how she first crossed paths with The Zylofon Media boss during a program for a bank.
Despite facing challenges with equipment that day, Joyce Blessing took it upon herself to make the event a success, a move that caught NAM 1’s attention.
Impressed by her dedication and talent, NAM 1 decided to show his appreciation in a big way.
“First time he met me was at a program for a bank,” Joyce Blessing recalled. “They did not bring the equipment, they thought calling an artiste for a gig includes us showing up iwth instruments and back ups to perform. Our job was just to show up and perform using their set up. They hadn’t set anything up when we arrived so I had to sacrifice myself for the bank. Apparently, he was really satisfied with my effort.”
In their next meeting, Joyce Blessing said NAM 1 surprised her with a generous gift of GHS 10,000 which was a significant amount at that time in her career.
This act of kindness from NAM 1 remains one of the most memorable moments in Joyce Blessing’s career.
She made the revelation while addressing how, as creatives, they often receive gifts from fans, loved ones, and even strangers.
Joyce Blessing emphasized that while the music industry may not always be financially rewarding, these acts of generosity help keep artists going.
She revealed she has been gifted by people who appreciate her songs including market women.
