Management of Bills Micro-Credit Limited has launched an internal investigation following the circulation of a viral video on social media showing a confrontation between some of its field officers and a woman carrying a child.
In a statement issued on March 14, the company said the incident has raised serious concerns, adding that steps are being taken to establish the full circumstances surrounding what occurred.
According to the statement, the video circulating online suggests that the woman attempted to take a mobile phone from one of the officers while holding a baby. During the struggle, she reportedly lost her balance and fell.
Management described the development as unfortunate, noting that a comprehensive internal review has been initiated to determine the sequence of events that led to the incident.
The company further emphasised that it operates as a regulated financial institution and is guided by strict professional and ethical standards in its interactions with clients and the public.
Meanwhile, management disclosed that efforts are underway to establish contact with the woman involved as part of steps to properly address the matter and ensure it is resolved responsibly.
