Ghana U-23 national team will open their 2019 WAFU Nations Cup title defense against Gambia on 1 October in Thies, Senegal.

Coach Ibrahim and his Black Meteors have used the past months to prepare themselves fit enough for the sub-regional football championship.

They will hope to batter Gambia in their opening match to cruise to the next round of the competition.

The tournament will run from 28 September till 13 October with all matches taking place at the Stade Lat Dior in the beautiful city of Thies.

Last year, hosts Ghana beat Nigeria 4-1 in the final to lift the trophy at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
