Black Princesses striker Sandra Owusu-Ansah has assured Ghanaians the team is not going to let the nation down at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

Coach Yusif Basigi’s side face a daunting task after being drawn to take on France, the Netherlands and New Zealand.

Ghana will be appearing at the World Cup for a fifth time and on each of their four previous visits, they were unable to advance beyond the group phase.

And Sandra Owusu is hoping this year’s mundial in France will be a chance to rewrite history.

“Yes as you rightly said we haven’t made it past the group stage before, it is a big worry,” she told the media at the team’s base in Prampram.

“We have not excuse this time around, we can see the support from the people of Ghana and we know they will be keeping an eye on us.

“We just can’t fail them this time around and we will do everything possible to make an impression this time around.”
The World Cup begins on August 5th with Ghana playing France in the opening game in Vannes.
