Ghana women’s national team captain Portia Boakye has taken a bold new step in her illustrious career, signing with Congolese giants TP Mazembe following the expiration of her contract with Israeli side Hapoel Petah Tikva.

The 36-year-old veteran centre-back has been named in Mazembe’s squad for the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League, where she is expected to play a key role in the club’s title defense in Egypt.

Boakye, a bronze medalist at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, brings a wealth of experience to the team. She began her career with Fabulous Ladies in Ghana and later featured for Swedish sides Ostersunds DFF and Djurgårdens IF. At TP Mazembe, she reunites with fellow Ghanaian Thelma Baffour Atuah, adding depth and leadership to the squad.

TP Mazembe Women kick off their Group B campaign on Sunday, November 9, against ASEC Mimosas. They will also face Gaborone United Ladies and JKT Queens in what promises to be a competitive group stage.
