Ghana’s Ministry of Sports and Recreation has moved to reassure the public that the Ghana women's national football team are safe and well in the United Arab Emirates despite heightened tensions in the region.

‎In an official statement released on 2 March 2026, the Ministry said the team, currently in the UAE to participate in the Pink Ladies Cup as part of preparations for the upcoming Women's Africa Cup of Nations, continues to be closely monitored.

‎The statement said the Minister for Sports and Recreation has been in constant contact with the leadership of the Ghana Football Association, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and Ghana’s diplomatic mission in the UAE to ensure the team’s safety and welfare.

‎Officials from Ghana’s Mission in the UAE have visited the players in camp and offered direct assurances of the government’s full support. The Ministry commended the embassy for what it described as a prompt response, proactive engagement and close coordination during the period.

‎“Government remains fully committed to the protection, welfare, and well-being of all Ghanaian athletes representing the nation abroad,” the statement said, adding that the situation is being closely monitored in collaboration with the appropriate authorities.

‎The Ministry has also urged the public to remain calm and continue supporting the Black Queens as they focus on their preparations and performances.

‎The reassurance comes at a time of uncertainty in parts of the Middle East, with officials keen to emphasise that the team’s security remains a top priority while they continue their international assignment.
