Ghana's Black Satellites are set to kick off their journey towards securing a spot in the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Thursday, facing Benin in the WAFU Zone B Championships in Togo.

This competition serves as the regional qualifier for next year’s U-20 AFCON.

Ghana is placed in Group A and will play their opening match at the Stade de Kégué at 7:00 pm local time, right after the tournament's first fixture between hosts Togo and Niger.

The match comes shortly after the 15th anniversary of Ghana's historic FIFA U-20 World Cup win in Egypt, where a 10-man Black Satellites team, captained by Andre Dede Ayew, famously defeated Brazil on penalties to become Africa's first and only World Cup champions in the U-20 category.

Ghana’s coach, Desmond Offei, is eager to lead the team to next year's AFCON, acknowledging the high expectations of Ghanaian football fans, who are eager for youth football success once again.

In addition to Benin, the Black Satellites will face Niger and hosts Togo in the group stage as they aim to secure a place in the continental tournament.
