Ghana’s U20 team, the Black Satellites, officially secured their place in the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations despite a 2-1 loss to Nigeria in the WAFU B final on Wednesday night.

Played at the Stade de Kegue in Lomé, Togo, the match saw Nigeria’s Kparabo Arieri net a first-half brace, which Ghana’s Jerry Afriyie answered with a goal in the 75th minute.

Despite Ghana’s spirited second-half performance, they were unable to level the score.

Already qualified for Africa's flagship youth tournament prior to the final, the Black Satellites will now make a return to the AFCON Championship, where they last claimed the title in 2021.

Under the leadership of Coach Desmond Ofei and his staff, Ghana has confidently navigated qualification to the continental stage.

The 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations will also serve as the qualifier for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, with the top four teams advancing to the global competition.
