Ghana's Black Satellites faced a humbling 5-0 loss against Germany U-20 in a lopsided international friendly as part of their preparation for the 2024 WAFU B qualifiers.

The German side took control early, with Ansah opening the scoring in the 2nd minute. Weiper doubled the lead by the 13th minute, and Ansah struck again before halftime.

Bischof added a fourth just before the break, leaving Ghana trailing 4-0 at the interval.

Despite adjustments made by Black Satellites coach Desmond Ofei during the second half, the team struggled to respond.

Germany capped off the victory when Komur netted a fifth goal in the 79th minute, completing the dominant performance.

This defeat comes as a setback for the Black Satellites, who recently claimed victory in the 2023 African Games Men's Football tournament and were looking to carry that momentum into the upcoming U-20 AFCON WAFU B qualifiers.

The team, placed in Group A alongside Togo, Benin, and Niger, will need to regroup ahead of their fixtures.

Ghana, a four-time U-20 AFCON champion, last won the tournament in 2021 but missed the 2023 edition, which was won by Senegal.

With the qualifiers scheduled in Togo from October 17 to 31, 2024, the Black Satellites aim to secure a spot in both the 2025 U-20 AFCON and the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The Ghanaian side will need to recover quickly from this defeat to boost their chances of returning to continental prominence.
