There is some good news for Black Stars defender Alexander Djiku, as the central defender for Fenerbahçe, has been declared fit to return to action following an injury scare over the weekend.
Djiku sustained a knock during Fenerbahçe's 3-2 away win at Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig, where the team secured an important victory to climb back into the top four.
The 29-year-old defender was performing well in the match until he was forced to leave the field in the 59th minute after picking up the injury.
Initially, the situation appeared concerning, but the latest update is positive: Djiku has been cleared by medical staff and is now available for selection.
Djiku is expected to feature in Fenerbahçe's next fixture against Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa League.
Additionally, he is anticipated to be part of Ghana's squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where the Black Stars will face Angola and Niger.
This comes as a welcome relief to both his club and national team, as Djiku has been an important figure in both sides' defensive setups.
