Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has visited Abdul Mumin in Spain as the Rayo Vallecano reliable defender is recuperating following an injury he sustained in March.

The 26-year-old former Right to Dream product suffered the season-ending injury in a La Liga game against Sevilla on March 31, which kept him on the sidelines, guaranteeing he missed out on other crucial games for his side.

With the Black Stars scheduled to feature in a four-nation friendly tournament in the UK later this month, Otto Addo’s visit to Vallecano forms part of efforts to monitor Mumin’s recovery.

The tournament will feature Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Nigeria, and Jamaica, with matches set for May 28 and June 31, 2025.

Mumin, who has nine caps for the national team, missed out on Ghana’s recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games against Chad and Madagascar and is ruled out of the upcoming London games due to the setback.

He, however, welcomed Otto Addo's visit, briefing him on his recovery. The technical team remains hopeful of his return ahead of the World Cup qualifiers in September.

The defender, regardless of his current situation, has still been nominated for the La Liga African MVP of the season alongside his compatriot, Inaki Williams. The Ghanaian duo is among 20 nominees from 13 other African countries.
